I have needs.

It's a bit of a change for me. Usually I only have wants. I guess you could technically classify these things as wants, but in the grand scheme of my apartment, I have needs... a couple needs.

I need a dining table. I WANT this dining table.

But I'll settle for something similar. Round, 30", with legs (not pedestal). It can be either dining, counter or bar height, but I'd prefer dining. That particular table (a Eurostyle bistro table to be exact) is about $140. Not a bad price... but I seem to be having commitment issues with spend more than $100 on such an important piece of furniture.
I was hoping to magically find one for $10 at a thrift store last weekend, but alas, I didn't. I didn't find any... at all... for any price.

I also need a bed. I have a mattress and box spring, so really I could get any queen-size bed. I would like this bed.

I was thinking in white, but I can settle for oak veneer or medium brown. $200 plus less than $100 for slats is a pretty good price... but I'm just not 100% in love with the bed and that lovely commitment issue pops up again.
And my other problem is getting it from the store to my apartment. I'm fairly certain even the wonderful Ikea flatpack boxes won't fit in my car.

I've also considered a bed from West Elm, which frequently go on sale for under $200... but that's usually not including a headboard. And the headboard part is really the part that I need the most.

I guess that's all that I really NEED. I want a rug for the living room and the kitchen, and I want a new, multi-purpose night stand... but my apartment will still feel complete without them. I think the bed and dining table need to come first.

My roommate has that bed in white...it's pretty cute!

As for getting furniture from Ikea to your apartment...when I moved into my Santa Monica apartment, I went to the Carson Ikea, picked out my bed and matress, then had them ship it up to me. It was about $60 (I think), but since I went in the morning, they had it at my apartment on the same day. Plus, they had given me a time frame that was something like 2-6...they were there at 2 on the dot. And they bring in all the boxes for you! I highly highly recommend that option. Totally worth the money.

The second time I moved, I rented a U-Haul van. Now THAT is a nightmare. :)
